Summer Wheat lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. She earned her M.F.A in 2005 from Savannah College of Art and Design in Atlanta, GA. Her work has been featured in Art Forum, Hyperallergic, Art Pulse, The Boston Globe and Blouin Info. Summer has shown nationally and internationally and is preparing for her next SOLO show at Oklahoma Contemporary Museum in 2016.
'Summer Wheat's prolific portfolio of paintings, drawings, sculptures, collages and installations can leave any artist feeling a bit under accomplished. Summer's seemingly impulsive and raw pieces are fully saturated with color and gesture. Often her works depict kitchen scenes, kaleidoscopes and trophies which carry a domestic and childhood weight to their complex narrative."
